Discover Buda on foot with a local who knows the city beyond the usual tourist route. Buda offers a completely different atmosphere from Pest, centred around the magnificent Buda Castle District, with its historic streets, spectacular viewpoints and iconic landmarks. Our walking tours are led by local residents who know Budapest personally and enjoy showing it from a local perspective. Choose the duration that suits you: from a short orientation of the Castle District to a more comprehensive experience covering the Castle and its surrounding neighbourhoods. We normally do not enter attractions or paid sights during the tour. The tour focuses on discovering Buda from the outside, including its architecture, history, viewpoints and atmosphere. On longer tours, there is also time to venture beyond the Castle District and explore areas such as the Várkert Bazár, parts of Víziváros and the area around Batthyány Square. Dogs are welcome, making these tours a great option for travellers exploring Budapest with their four-legged companion. As public transport may be used, dogs should be comfortable wearing a muzzle. A special tip: The upper level of the Fisherman's Bastion is free to access in the early morning and in the evening. If possible, we recommend timing your tour around these periods. Tt can make a significant difference to the experience. Please note: The advertised duration is an approximate tour length rather than a guaranteed finish time. Walking pace varies from one guest to another. If we notice during the tour that we are moving more slowly than expected, we will let you know in good time. Together, you can then decide whether to pick up the pace, shorten or adjust the route to keep within the original timeframe, or extend the tour at €20 per additional 30 minutes.
